Kia ora,

Welcome to Capeview Cottage

Why can’t we get guests to leave when they say they’re going to?

“A true gem to stay – comfy, peaceful, delightful surrounded in nature with song birds, cheeky funny Weka that wanted to play hide and seek. Close to beaches and Opotiki township, spoilt for choice really. Tidy, clean and comfortable beds, Capeview Cottage has everything you need."

Where are we going wrong?

After the tenth polite reminder, another East Cape sunrise or two, a stroll around the orchards, a wander down to the beach, a jet boat ride up the Motu river, a quick round of golf, a foray into the Urewera National Park wilderness and a good book on the deck – we still can’t coax our guests out.

Luxuriously comfortable, the cottage is spacious and generously appointed. Read more.

Simply spectacular, the views are unforgettable. See more.

Strolling, taking a short drive to local attractions or jet boating, it's all in Opotiki. More details.

Environment friendly

At Capeview we do our best to be Eco Friendly.

The Opotiki town council is one of the most progressive in the country and runs a large recycling and refuse plant. At Capeview we recycle as much as possible including all newspaper, cardboard, plastics, tins and bottles. All vegetable food scraps go to a worm bin for vermicomposting.

All garden rubbish is composted and goes into the garden, lawn and surrounding orchard.

While our kiwifruit orchards are not organic they are run using the kiwi-green programme, where pest control is strictly monitored. If a chemical spray is recommended we use mostly oil based products.

In front of the cottage are two organic farms – kiwifruit and dairy run by other members of the Young family.

“Just amazing and such a beautiful reception. Lovely cottage and the surroundings are pure and peaceful. We needed some time to get away and take a break, this has been perfect. A really warm, enriching and family feeling. Thank you very much."
